independence movement two centuries ago will be honored Monday in the
unveiling of a bronze bust the Mexican government has given to the
city of Yuma.
The bust of Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon will be unveiled in Heritage
Library Park, 350 S. 3rd Ave., in an 11 a.m. ceremony held as part of
the celebration of Mexico's bicentennial.
The anniversary of Mexico's declaration of independence from Spain on
Sept. 16, 1810, is one of two milestones in Mexico this year. Nov. 20
is the centennial of the Mexican Revolution.
The public is invited to the unveiling ceremony, which is expected to
attract public officials from around Yuma County,
