Los teclados que desaparecen - disappearing keyboards

I use the US International Keyboard (kbdusx.kbd) on my computer (Windows
2000), but lately the icon to switch between English and Spanish has been
disappearing from screen. Does anyone know why this is happening or how to
fix it?

BTW, I used to post here under the name of Icarus if anyone remembers me.

Thanks for your help.

arreglarlo?

Yo antes venía con frecuencia aquí. Posteaba con el nombre de Ícaro.

Gracias.

[PANG] Hi, Jeff! ...Just acknowledging your query about the
disappearing icon. I have no idea why that's happening. I will, however,
start asking around...

Nice to see you around here again!

Gracias por responderme (y a Pang tambien). Creo que tenga algo que ver con
el uso de Office XP con Windows 2000. No puedo encontrar ninguna mencion en
la web de Microsoft.

Hola Jeff.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the TweakUI, but unfortunately it didn't
resolve my problem, although I think I will leave TweakUI installed because
it has some other pretty cool functions I will want to try out when I get
the time. :) Your response encouraged me to try yet another Google search,
and I apparently put all the search terms in the right order this time and
found an explanation of the problem and a solution in at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/altkeyboards/message/1331

I will go ahead and summarize the solution in case someone else has the
problem and wants it from the archive. Basically you have to disable the
Language Bar and revert to the old language/keyboard-layout tray menu.
(They look the same to me, but apparently they are not the same thing.)

Find the file called "internat", (c:\winnt\system32\internat). Put a
shortcut to that file in your startup folder, and now when you restart your
computer the keyboard icon doesn't get turned off by Word.

I apologize for the OT.

Geez. M$ does it again. Their not even capable of making their own
software work together without glitches and squeeks.

Change your OS. Mac, Unix, Linux, anything but drop M$.

Would you buy a car that would stop running if you turned on your radio
and opened the windows at the same time?

Would you find it acceptable that if you explained this to your car
dealer, he told you to change your radio, and use only classic music
CDs on the new one?

I just don't get it why people stills stick to such a low quality
product...

Well. Sorry again. Nothing against you, it's M$ that bothers me.

No apology necessary. I agree with you 100%.

I was a happy Mac user for years until I started my current job. Macs come
off the shelf ready to type accent marks (and always have) and there is
nothing complicated about it at all. Unfortunately, MS is all that the
college I teach at allows in our offices, and in our classrooms. I tried for
a while to strattle the two platforms, with my Mac at home and my PC at
work, but it was just too unwieldy, y me di por vencido y compré un PC.
