Mexico’s industrial sector is demanding the government increase its
retaliation against the United States for reneging on the NAFTA
agreement, which allowed Mexican trucks to ship into the US. Mexico
started retaliating last year with tariffs on 90 US industrial and
agricultural products. Mexico expanded the list of tariffs to US pork
and other products in August. NAFTA has been in place for 16 years,
but Mexican trucks have not been allowed into the US, except for a one-
year pilot program in 2007.
