In a room decked out with balloons, banners and Mexican costumes, a
band played crowd favorites, Alvina Cabrerra took the stage to sing
the Mexican national hymn and everyone stood to recite this country's
Pledge of Allegiance.

"It's very happy for everybody," said Cabrerra, dressed in red, white
and green and with a rose in her hair and a grin across her face.
"It's a day of pride."

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the victory of a Mexican army over a much
larger and better trained and equipped force of French soldiers at
Pueblo in 1862.
